Pieter van der Aa (1963, Netherlands) established true mastery in building his own NY32 – No 21 – christened Masquerade on April 10, 2010. A first since only 20 where built in the 1930s at the Nevins yard. The late Olin Stephens II - America’s Cup winner and architect of the NY32 Class - offered his blessing from scratch. The NYYC Commodore offered his compliments upon launch. Both ‘institutions’ thus honoring and confirming Pieter’s outstanding craftsmanship.

His father and grandfather were ahead of their times in offering advanced sawmill solutions in the second half of the 20th century. They excelled in applying innovative design and advanced production processes & facilities and provided the backdrop for Pieter’s professional development.
